Happy International Women's Day from the women of Riskified!

(upbeat music) - I wanted to win the Olympics. I had the spirit, I had the dedication in me. Unfortunately, I was missing probably five shoe sizes, 20 centimeter as in a stronger pool. - I was born in Shanghai and moved to Australia when I was a teenager. I had always dreamed of being a flight attendant since Australia is so far away from everywhere and I wanted to travel around the world. - I thought that I was going to be a doctor. I grew up in a family of doctors and so I thought that's what I would end up doing. But I'm not a science or a math person, I'm a words person. I was always drawn instead to literature and ended up in communications. - When I was growing up, I wanted to be an interior designer. - I remember my first experience with a computer and the first software games I've ever played with. I was challenged and I had an inner drive to understand how it works. Although there was a time I thought I'd plan and design the buildings of the future as an architect, my inner drive won and well, here I am today. - Believe in yourself, don't think about what you can't do. Think about what you can do. Go explore and learn more about STEM. You might even like it and enjoy it as you do today. - The only person standing in your way is probably yourself. It's usually you that are kind of doubting yourself or not pushing yourself forward in a way. - Please don't compare achievement with others. Jit yourself against yourself from yesterday and always stay hungry for new things. - And the best advice that I would have been my inner self is to live in the present. No matter how much you worry about the future, you're always gonna end up what you're supposed to. - You know, leadership position has a woman and meeting meetings, walking into conference rooms with, you know, oftentimes man, you have many years experience more than I do. I have to kind of give myself that extra pep talk to maintain that confidence level and know that I'm in this position because I'm trusted to do the job. - One of my biggest challenges was the work-life balance. It is best to find an advanced and diverse workplace that recognize the value of the employee, regardless of your family status. - Your core values will dictate how you process or react to things. An understanding of that can help you so much, resolving something very quickly. - I was surrounded by, you know, inspiring, you know, admirable women who were kind of shaping, you know, my perspective of what it could look like to have a career outside of the home. - In China, it is very common to see and here women continue to work a double shift at home. All stakeholders needs to work together to maintain an accelerate progress on gender equality. - What I like about Riskified is that not that someone tries to empower you by doing something out of the ordinary. Riskified culture enables women, or actually anyone who's doing a good job to be appreciated and promoted, period. - I had and still have excellent managers who pushed me, recognized my work and gave me many promotion opportunities. - I always felt I was treated as an equal. I was seen and promoted due to my skills and capabilities. - At Riskified, I'm surrounded by so many other incredible women in leadership positions and who have been amazing mentors and leaders for me in my career. - Happy International Women's Day.
