What is Komodor's foundation story?
Ben Ofiri, CEO and Co-Founder of Komodor, shares the inspiring foundation story of the company, which originated from his and ETL's shared experiences in computer science at Tel Aviv University and their subsequent professional challenges. They discovered a significant gap in expertise and tools for managing microservices and Kubernetes systems, prompting them to develop in-house solutions. Through research and validation, they realized this issue was widespread, motivating them to establish Komodor to help teams worldwide navigate the complexities of these advanced technologies. Ben is passionate about being part of the solution, ensuring that companies can smoothly transition to and operate within the Kubernetes ecosystem.

Actually it started when both ETL and I studied computer science in Tel Aviv University 10 years ago. And what I actually experienced hands-on and also ETL when he was working for eBay back then is that once companies are adapting and using microservices and Kubernetes inter-production systems, the teams and the different departments not have necessarily the needed information, expertise and experience to actually operate and troubleshoot those very distributed and complex systems. And we found ourselves actually developing in-house tools for our teams in order to mitigate this pain. And once ETL and I discussed about it, when we were still working for our companies, we realized that we were probably not the only teams and departments out there who are struggling with operating and troubleshooting those complex systems. And it actually forced us to start a research journey and then a validation on this problem with other companies and other departments. And eventually it yielded the decision that there is a huge pain that is only going to be bigger and harder as companies are adapting and migrating to Kubernetes and we definitely wanted to be part of the solution for this pain. And this is what eventually was the motivation for us to start working on Commodore.
